The Step Show has officially been postponed from Friday, October 8, 2021 to Saturday, February 12, 2022. This decision was made by chapters of the University of Kentucky National Pan-Hellenic Council during the week of Monday, September 20, upon being made aware that the Alumni Association and Office for Institutional Diversity were postponing the Lyman T. Johnson Banquet and Gospel Brunch—two signature Homecoming events catered to Black alumni—to February. In speaking with those departments, this decision was made ultimately made to prioritize the health and safety of the UK community amidst continued concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.
The National Pan-Hellenic Council’s Homecoming Step Show is a long-standing campus tradition that celebrates the NPHC and African-American community through stepping and strolling. This event builds upon the evolving tradition of stepping as an art form and expression of commitment to African-American culture. Undergraduate and alumni members of NPHC and interested community members alike are invited to celebrate this tradition and prepare for a night to be remembered!
