DanceBlue is a University of Kentucky student-run organization that fundraises year-round and culminates in a 24-hour no sitting, no sleeping dance marathon. The money raised through DanceBlue is donated to the Golden Matrix Fund, established to support the kids of the DanceBlue Kentucky Children’s Hospital Hematology/Oncology Clinic both today and well into the future through an endowment.
On October 25th, we will be holding our annual Silent Auction to help support our cause. The Silent Auction is one of our largest fundraising nights of the year and features live music and food. Held in the Woodford Reserve Room in Kroger Field, alumni, families, friends, and community members all attend to raise money FTK! In past years, the Silent Auction has featured items such as: UK basketball tickets, vacation stays, jewelry, items from Buffalo Trace and Pappy Van Winkle distilleries, customized Louisville Slugger baseball bats, and many more.
Through 14 years of DanceBlue, over $15 million has been raised through the Golden Matrix Fund. This fund not only supports small, but important, items such as meal vouchers and gas cards for families, but also through clinic staff support like our Child Life Specialists and School Intervention Specialists. Additionally, the Golden Matrix Fund allowed for the construction of a new Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic in 2017 that has expanded the capacity of the clinic as well as providing a more convenient and comfortable experience for the families. Events like the Silent Auction help us continue to do as much as we can for the patients and families in the clinic!
